The current resources committed to manage the long queues and on-site requests will be redeployed to expedite the processing and issuance of passports. ICA has thus reviewed our processes to facilitate passport issuance. This has resulted in long queues at ICA Building, which has required additional ICA officers for crowd management and other services.ģ. These include visits to check on the status of passport applications, as well as requests to expedite passport application or collection. The number of people who visit ICA Building for passport collection and other enquiries has also increased. To meet the increased demand, more officers have been redeployed to process and produce passports, and they are doing so round the clock.Ģ. We currently issue more than 5,000 passports per day – almost thrice the number pre-Covid in 2019. The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has been producing and issuing passports at an unprecedented rate in response to the surge in passport applications since Mar 2022.
